29th March 1814 – Campaign Diary


Campaign Map
Blucher retreats to the east bank of the river Maas to rally and resupply
Sacken occupies Bad Kreuznach and secures abandoned French supplies
Schwarzenberg enters Cirey and captures 9 days French supplies
Wrede wins battle of Rougemont
Wellington and Soult start Salvatiere phase of the campaign
Giron and  Suchet agree a short truce to rest and recover
First French and Prussian Army
7 French corps rally after battle
4 Prussian corps retreat to E02 after battle
All other corps halt and resupply
Second French and Russian Army
The Russians halt and regroup
They also secure the French supplies left at  Bad Kreuznach
The French rally and reorganise around Oberstein
Third French and Austrian Army
French retreat and regroup east of Blamont
Austrians regroup in and around Cirey
3 Austrian corps occupy Cirey and seize depot and nine days supplies
Fourth French and Bavarian Army
Encounter battle at Rougemont
Bavarian - 48,000 infantry, 3000 cavalry, 90 guns
French - 40,000 infantry, 3000 cavalry, 90 guns
Bavarians win and occupy Rougemont
Fifth French and British Army
Start positions of all corps for the Salvatiere Phase

Sixth French and Spanish Army
Both armies are exhausted after eleven days contact and two major battles.
They agree a cease fire to allow both armies to resupply and regroup.
